Design & Architecture in SL

Flickr is a lot easier to update than a website, so while I am leaving some of the 2005-era pictures up here (and on the pages at left), if you are interested in seeing a sample of my Second Life design work, check out this Flickr set.

Mission St. in Bisque

This was a joint project with Cory Edo where we each took half of a street.  It no longer exists, swapped out for a sky garden.  The pictures below cover the Figments half, and include details like custom street lamps, tree shadows, and ambient lighting. The green building was created with an Irish pub in mind, while the clothing & jewelry store needed a more classical feel.

Deco

I decided to have a little fun one night and make Simone Stern a deco store (she'd been hoping for something along those lines for some time).  I tried to keep the build relatively small (19m x30m) and prim light (130) for flexible use.  The reflections from the walls and light from the glass-pattern ceiling were baked into the floor textures, and deco elements were used throughout the wall panels and stained glass.

PrimAdonna Island

Back in late 2005, I helped to rebuild the PrimAdonna region.  The primary focus of the sim was to support the owner's clothing business, with stores and event areas for DJ and fashion shows.  At the time, the sim was located next to Simone island, so we kept the then-current canal-and-gondola system.  The main store was organized into 6 sections, and implemented in a hub-and-spoke pattern over the canals. The store builds were designed to fit the classical tastes of the owner.

The club, "club E", on the other hand needed to fit the electronica music the owner preferred to play.

Simone Island

Simone Stern's main island has been through several generations of styles. Here is the look I built back in late 2005. We then shifted to a modular deco look, and are rebuilding once again. There's no such thing as a finished build!
