Great Builds of SL, Vol 1: Architecture

Below you will find SLURLs that can take you directly to the 23 builds highlighted in Volume 1.
Book Introduction, Page 1
How do you define a great build? In this editor's mind, it is not easily defined by era, influence, originality, or even function. Rather, it is that difficult combination of interesting design and technical proficiency across both prim-work and texturing. This book provides a short visual tour of 23 architecturally-focused builds from around Second Life that I believe successfully meet those two requirements.
The builds range from tiny (a beach shack in Deimos) to sim-wide designs. I have also tried to include a few seminal creations that influenced the landscape of SL and which still exist today. Each page lists the build's sim name and, when relevant, coordinates.
For those curious about the inclusion criteria, besides meeting this editor's aesthetic and technical requirements, I also insisted that a build currently exist and be accessible somewhere in the public grid. I focused more on exteriors rather than interior design, and architecture rather than objects or scultpures (the subject of other books). Lastly, I excluded for-sale prefab structures. I am sure there are many excellent builds that I simply did not know about and thus did not include, but I'd love to hear about them for possible inclusion in future editions.
Regards, Forseti Svarog, Editor
