Along the way, I have enjoyed tackling many whimsical projects, and creating little freebies from tree shadows to building tutorials.
The merry-go-round tutorial -- designed to be an illustrated take-it-apart learning tool -- includes notcards on things like cell shading and texture animation.
Halloween, always a lively time in SL, inspired a giant (if several thousand prims counts as giant) pumpkin patch in garrison, complete with hay wagon, bales, and a watch post for the Great Pumpkin.

I have also always been a fan of SL's winter festival. For winter 2004, I made a giant ice rose.

For 2005, I created a goldberg machine of colorful ice cogs spinning and eventually turning a clockwork of suns, moons and stars. This build won a Best of Snapzilla award for a snap, and has been invited to be shown in the Crescent Moon Museum.
This winter I also joined the Toys for Tots fundraiser, creating a giant nutcracker. That's my avatar hovering around the midsection in the left picture, which gives you a sense of scale.

However, I have to say my favorite "fun" build of 2005 was Chester -- a joint project with Cory Edo. Chester was a halloween surprise for Mistress Midnight (he arrived in the Midnight City pond), and has since been cast free into the world as a freebie. I did the prim work and a few texture bits like eyes/teeth/mouth, and Cory did the fabulous slimy skin and scales.
